Hollowtown Display Font for Creative Makers

As a web designer and product creator who often works with handmade brands, I’m always on the lookout for display fonts that can elevate a project from ordinary to unforgettable. Recently, I tested Hollowtown, a fun and urban looking display font, across several real-world applications—from candle labels to digital printables—and was pleasantly surprised by how it brought a fresh energy to each design.

Hollowtown for Candle Labels and Branding

I started using Hollowtown on a set of candle labels for a local artisanal candle shop. The label needed to be bold enough to stand out on a shelf but also stylish enough to reflect the brand’s personality. As a display font, Hollowtown delivered both. Its playful yet polished structure gave the candles an urban flair without feeling too casual or unprofessional.

The font’s open shapes and generous spacing made it easy to read even at smaller sizes, which is crucial when you're printing on narrow labels. I found myself adjusting the layout less than usual because the characters naturally balanced each other. For a handmade product like candles, where branding is key, Hollowtown helped create a cohesive look across all packaging materials.

Hollowtown on Farmhouse Signs and Sticker Sheets

Next up, I used Hollowtown for a batch of farmhouse-style wall signs and sticker sheets. These are often sold as digital downloads or printed items, so legibility and visual appeal are equally important. Hollowtown’s slightly irregular edges and soft curves gave the text a handcrafted feel, making it perfect for printable wall art and rustic-themed merchandise.

When cutting stickers with a Cricut, I noticed that Hollowtown performed well with larger lettering—especially when paired with simple accents like woodgrain textures or watercolor backgrounds. However, for very small cuts or intricate details, I had to adjust the size carefully. It’s not ideal for tiny, densely packed designs due to its decorative nature, but for standout statements and titles, it’s a winner.

Hollowtown in Wedding Invitations and Event Stationery

Wedding invitations are one of those projects where the font choice really matters. It needs to convey elegance while still being approachable. When I used Hollowtown for a wedding welcome board and envelope liner, the result was charming and modern. The font’s character variations allowed me to mix things up without losing consistency in the brand identity.

I paired it with a clean sans serif font for the address block and supporting text, creating a nice contrast between the main title and body copy. This kind of font pairing is essential when working with decorative display fonts, and Hollowtown makes it easy. The overall effect was eye-catching, and it helped set a warm, inviting tone for the event.

Hollowtown for Boutique Packaging and Merchandise

Another place I tried Hollowtown was on boutique packaging for a line of organic bath bombs and skincare products. The packaging design called for something trendy but still refined. Hollowtown added just the right amount of personality—its urban aesthetic fit perfectly with the brand’s vibe.

I used it for the product names and taglines, and layered it subtly over geometric patterns. The font’s versatility allowed it to work well on both matte and glossy paper finishes. Plus, since it’s a commercial font, the client could confidently use it for selling their products online and in physical stores.

One thing I noted: because it’s a display font, it’s best suited for short phrases rather than long paragraphs. I avoided using it for detailed ingredient lists or descriptions, opting instead for a more readable typeface. But for headers and brand messaging, it was perfect.

Hollowtown in Seasonal Craft Designs and Digital Templates

For seasonal products like holiday tags and Halloween cards, Hollowtown really shines. I designed a set of Christmas ornament tags using this font, and the final prints felt festive and full of life. The subtle imperfections in the letters mimic hand-lettered styles, which gives them authenticity and warmth.

In digital templates, especially those used for social media graphics or shop previews, Hollowtown helped make the designs pop. It worked great for hero text in mockups, adding a creative edge that caught attention. I also appreciated the included alternates and ligatures—they gave the text a more personalized touch without requiring extra effort.

If you’re planning to use Hollowtown for longer texts, though, consider limiting it to short bursts or combining it with another typeface for balance. As a display font, it’s meant to draw the eye and create impact, not to carry entire paragraphs.

Hollowtown for Planner Pages and Wall Art

Planner pages often need a mix of style and functionality, and Hollowtown offered the perfect blend. I used it for motivational quotes and section headers, which helped break up content visually while keeping the design engaging. The font’s friendly, approachable feel made it ideal for personalization and DIY planners.

On printable wall art, I loved how Hollowtown adapted to different layouts. Whether centered in a minimalist frame or part of a collage with photos and illustrations, it maintained its charm. I recommend using it in conjunction with a script or handwritten font for added texture and depth in your editorial design.

Before sending the files off to print, I double-checked the font’s file formats and licensing. Since I was creating commercial printables, having a font with proper commercial font licensing was a must. Hollowtown didn’t disappoint there either—it came with the necessary rights for resale and redistribution, giving me peace of mind as a seller.

Hollowtown for Tote Bags, Shirts, and Product Tags

Text-based merchandise like tote bags and shirts are where display fonts really come into their own. With Hollowtown, I created a few sample designs using short, punchy phrases. The font’s strong presence and unique character shapes made it ideal for statement pieces. On a tote bag with the phrase “Live Bold,” Hollowtown stood out beautifully against a muted background.

Product tags were another area where Hollowtown added value. I used it for pricing tags and care instructions on custom mugs and shirts. Again, I stuck to shorter text elements and paired it with a simpler serif font for secondary details. The combination created a layered, professional look that elevated the overall presentation of the products.

It’s worth noting that when using Hollowtown for SVG-style designs, especially those intended for cutting machines like Silhouette or Cricut, it’s important to test at scale. While it’s great for bold headlines, its stylized features might not translate well if the text is too small or complex.

Final Notes on Hollowtown for Creative Projects

Hollowtown is a versatile and expressive display font that brings a sense of urban charm to any handmade or digital project. From product labels to shop listings, it adds personality and helps products stand out in a crowded market. If you're a maker who values creativity and clarity, this font could be a game-changer for your next design.

Always remember to check what styles, weights, and language support are included with the font, especially if you're designing for international customers. And for those of us who sell Fonts as part of our design assets, ensuring multilingual compatibility and commercial usage rights is key to staying compliant and confident in our creations.

So whether you're updating your brand logo, designing a new greeting card collection, or sprucing up your seasonal merchandise, Hollowtown offers a fresh take on modern typography that feels both current and classic. It’s not just a font—it’s a tool that helps your creativity shine through every detail.
